Tel is a "survivior"...

That's right, ATK had major lay-offs today and Tel "survived" (as they call it) so he still has a job! YAY! However, still no flight date. Tel called and bugged Captain Smith again to see if they had any flight slots, but nope none. Capt. Smith is now thinking "May or June"...

OOPS!!!

OK--I confess--I misspelled RHIAN's name and couldn't figure out how to go and correct it--soooo, continuing---my good news is that RHIAN laughed out loud for me last week while I was at Heather's house......Amy will try to deny it, but it's just because she's jealous because she can't make her repeat the performance. However, we all know who's more trustworthy.....Mom, Amy....that's a no-brainer, right?

general gab & General Conference proposal?

Hey--it's soooo fun to read your posts! Yay, Amy for setting this up!!! My good news for the week is that Uncle Danny is now "stent-less" (they removed it last Monday) and "brace-less" (they gave him the OK to go without it last Monday, also). He feels like a free man--except that he's not too fond of going to therapy, but he's going (albiet reluctantly--"I'll just ease into doing the stuff I usually do" NOT!!!) so I nag him constantly and he does the therapy thing. He's actually doing amazingly well--except it's pretty funny to see the difference in the size of his arms--he's been lifting the bales when we feed with his left arm exclusively and his right arm hasn't had any action to speak of in 7+ weeks--and it's VERY evident!!! Oh--my other good news is that there are 14 daffodils blooming in the flower bed out front--but who's counting?

OK--my proposal....we are planning to go down to Cedar Mountain this Sunday for part of the day...we're planning to watch the 1st hour of conference here at home, then listen to the second hour enroute to the Cedar Mountain picnic area (it takes about that long to get there if you drive conservatively & yes, you can get radio reception all the way, we checked), then let the kids hike and play while we get food set up; eat and clean up; play until next session; then I thought I'd maybe take some paints and water and wood stuff for the kids to paint during the afternoon session. Any of you who'd enjoy such an outing would be most welcome. (Yes, you can get radio reception down there--we checked to be sure!) Anyway--please call or email if you want to coordinate food and timing and such!

Oh--one last good news item--Rhyan

Belly Flop Winner!

Jessica won an awesome pair of goggles at the new Emery Co. pool last week for pulling off the most amazing (and painful I might add) belly flop. The Jr. High "top cats" were all there and I wish I would have been :) She said Morty called her "the Man". He also said her dad would have done the same thing. Nothing like feeding the fire ;)

the Whirly Gig

So, you all need to come visit our back yard and take a "turn" on the awesome new toy Jeff created. The kids have been begging him for a long time (my uncle made one in Wyoming) and when they refused to be paid for their last job because they wanted this built instead, what could he do. I'll post a picture soon.

A mommy "oops"

So yesterday we had a cleaning frenzy because we had some people schedule an appointment to come see the house at 4:30. Last I knew both kids were with Tel as I was finishing up by vacuuming. On the phone the couple had mentioned that they had a 4 yr old girl so I wanted Joselyn's room to look extra extra good. So as I was vacuuming I noticed a picture that Joselyn had drawn that I had taped on her closet (aka the little "house"), not wanting to distract from how cute the "house" was I grabbed it and crumbled it into a ball so I could throw it away. Then I heard a sweet voice say "Mommy, will you hang my picture back up." That's right, Joselyn had witness the whole thing. She was laying on her bed but I was so focused that I hadn't noticed her. I felt so horrible that of course I tried to flatten it back out and stuck it back on the closet. oops, I hope she isn't scarred for life...

PS the people really, really like it. Although, I've said it before, I will be utterly shocked if they don't make us an offer. (Let's just keep our fingers crossed that it's a decent offer, eh?)

Kids Schedule

Well, I hate to hear that Amy is disgruntled with being left out of the kids schedules so hear is an update on my childrens performances.
If you come any morning about 7:00 you can Kaden hollering down th stove pipe to let us all know he is awake and ready to feed the calfs, at 7:15 he will then comense hollering at the calfs as they eat. If you miss the performance tommorow you can probebly still get tickets for sunday.

Chante is putting on an exelent perfume show daily about 2:30 in the afternoon, if this is not a good time for you please inform Nancy as she could probebly let the performance last a bit longer before it begins to threaten the health of the attending audience.

Now that is what I call loyalty...

Both Angela and Kristen have Utah State taking it all. Some might call it stupidity... because you are my sisters, I call it loyalty.

Corbyn has CSU Northridge going all the way to the Elite 8. Now THAT I just call stupidity. :)

Just call me Grandma

Remember how Grandma & Grandpa used to always get mad that we never let them know about chorus concerts, track meets, etc.? Of course, I never had reason to let them know... even when they did come to Brett and my track meets, they would leave after Brett was done (before me). (That is what happens when you are just younger than the talented one in the family. Sniff.)

Well, anyway, Angela's comment on a former post made me want to once again stress a primary purpose of this blog: POST SCHEDULES OF THE KIDS ACTIVITIES!!!! I would love to be able to see Jessica or Melece or Tyler play basketball. Or Leedan or Daryl or Keldan wrestle. Or watch the whole family clog. (Which, by the way, I always wanted to do when I was growing up.)

So, help a sista out. Post a schedule.

March Madness

OK, so Paul didn't take my hint about creating a March Madness group, so I guess I have to. Here is our pool - be sure to enter BEFORE THURSDAY!!!!

http://tournament.fantasysports.yahoo.com/t1/register/joinprivategroup_assign_team?GID=139258&P=guymon

This is prime trash-talking ammo, so SIGN UP ALREADY!!! (Except the peace makers in the family... if you don't like to trash talk, please don't sign up. I assume if you sign up, you are ok with insults about your picks and I don't want to offend anyone.)

Let the games begin...

A really delicious and fast S'more.

Here is my recipe - take a graham cracker and put some chocolate on it. Nuke for 30 seconds. Put a marshmallow on top of that and nuke for another 15 seconds. (The marshmallow gets huge, which adds a little entertainment.) Put another graham cracker on top and smash the enormous marshmallow. You now have a delicious S'more in less than 1 minute.

*Warning: using this recipe too often may make you fat.

Cheesy Chicken Skillet Dinner

So I have idea, whenever you have a recipe you are willing to share post it so we can all enjoy! I made this last night and it was so simple to make, but delicious! (Then label the post "recipies" so we can search for them later).

Ingredients
1 tsp oil
1 1/4 lb chicken cut up into pieces
2 cups carrots (sliced)
1 medium zucchini (sliced)
2 TBSP soy sauce
8 med green onions (sliced, 1/2 cup)
2 cups cheddar cheese

Directions
Heat 12 inch skillet over med-high heat. Add oil and chicken- stir fry 4-5 minutes or until no longer pink in center. Remove from skillet.

Add carrots & zucchini to skillet, stir fry 4-5 minutes or until crisp tender. Add chicken & soy sauce; toss until chicken & veggies are coated with soy sauce.

Sprinkle with onions & cheese. Cover skillet until cheese is melted.

I heard the baby's heartbeat yesterday! Even though it's the third baby, it still just thrills me to hear it. As far as we know, the baby is doing well.

Tom would probably want me to inform you all that we brought five dairy bull-calves home and are now bottle feeding each of them. Sure hope it goes well!

How annoying am I?

OK, so don't answer that question. But, between me and the people already signed up on the blog, I keep spamming the family members who haven't signed up yet with invitations to sign up. And I am going to keep doing it until they sign up. Because the people who haven't signed up yet are too nice to tell me to knock it off.

I am so funny.

March Madness and Motocross racing

So, first of all, Paul - you going to send out a March Madness pool again? I think you should... I totally love it, even if I know nothing about college basketball.

Secondly, because I requested everyone else do this, I am going to follow my own suggestion: Corbyn has a Arenacross Race in Heber on Saturday, if anyone is interested. It is indoor and cold, so they tend to keep the doors partially shut, so come prepared to kill a couple million brain cells from exhaust and gas fumes. (Corbyn has actually forbidden me from coming until Rhian is older. I guess he thinks I can't afford to lose any brain cells.) Added benefit - you could always drop in to see Aunt Kay while you are there. (Kristen, perhaps you can take your scanner.)
Maybe you have already heard about this, but just thought I'd let you know that Tom has really enjoyed his student teaching. It's been so much better than his internship at Manti. He's thinking he'd like to continue teaching, but there probably won't be any job openings for a while. Guess we'll see what happens.

It was good to see you, Heather and kids, even though it was only for a second at church.

Have a happy day everyone!

Choosing a Name

I guess maybe I should have used Goldie instead...but then Heather would have been Silvie and Amy would have been Bronzie and then there would have been a fight over why I always get to be Goldie--even though now I think Bronzie is the coolest of the three...

Funny Story

So last week for Sharing Time they talked about the Father's role (I'm sure most of you know this, anyways...) So they had the kids write a note/draw a picture for their dad and then when they got home they were suppose to hide it in a pair of their dad shoes. Today they asked the kids "So who can tell us about hiding the note for their dad?" Joselyn blurted out "My dad sent me to TIME OUT!"

The real story...we got home from church and Tel had made dinner (Brooklynn & Maverick were sick so they didn't go to church). Tel told Joselyn to set the table, but she went to hide her note first. So since she didn't listen to him, he set her to timeout!

OK--SO I'M SLOW TO FIGURE THIS OUT!!!!! You know the story about old dogs and new tricks? Well, not-so-old-canine sometimes have the same problem! My news is that Uncle Danny is finally feeling much better!!!! Hurrah!!!!!! It was the blessing last Sunday and your fasting and prayers, I know, so thanks a ton to all of you!!! Also--I thought I'd brag for Leedan--he was chosen outstanding male vocal soloist for region Jr. High Solo & Ensemble. Jessica performed a piano solo and a flute duet and did a terrific job on both!!! (We taped their performances, but haven't figured how to upload them yet). Also, Taigon received his Arrow of Light award last Friday--which is fantastic. Oh--and Melece had pneumonia in both lungs, but it doing much better; and Keldan developed blood poisoning from a cut on his hand, but is doing better; and Jessica continues with a bout of laryngitis (spelling?) but hopefully is improving. OK--that's about all that I know. Well--maybe a funny about Leedan....Ferd told him he'd give extra credit if he stayed after school and helped with Jr. Wrestling, so he stayed to help (it's really hard to believe he'd prefer that to writing reports, I know, but...) Anyway--he went the first day to help and the guy in charge kept sending him off to wrestle--insisting that he needed to find a partner and practice. (He thought he was one of the little guys who was signed up to wrestle.) OK--it doesn't sound funny on paper, but it was funny when he told it. I told him maybe he'd better wear a sign specifying that he's in 8th grade. One last tidbit--this is fantibulous!!!! There are 9 tiny little yellow crocus blooming in my flowerbed! Woooooohoooooo! Spring has arrived!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love to you all!
Okay so here is my maiden run on the whole blog scene. Hope this works.

Babies are so cute!

Corbyn's Motocross Action

Hi guys - Just thought you all might be interested to know that thus far this year, Corbyn is undefeated in his motocross racing. Here is one of his races:

Wait- who is Queen Bee?

Mom - is that you? I am going to be extremely disappointed in all the kids if Mom has managed to become Web 2.0 before any of the rest of you...
